Question: Are teacher assistants/educational assistants/spouses of teachers/children of teachers eligible to attend teachers’ conventions?
Answer: No. Conventions are closed events designed for ATA members who hold the highest level of membership available to them and for a few invited guests. Central office and school administrators do not have the authority to direct teacher assistants or educational assistants to attend teachers’ conventions. (taken from the ATA website)

A Message to all Alberta Teachers’ Convention Committees
Unfortunately for all of us, 2021 turned out to be another year of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although we had the vaccine the Covid variants did not allow us to get back to a normal routine. The realization that our world would not change enough to allow events to happen without risk meant the ATA Conventions would have to be virtual in format for 2022.
On behalf of Morgex Insurance I am very pleased to announce our support of the upcoming ATA Conventions. As we did last year, Morgex Insurance has agreed to sponsor each Convention through the Alberta Teachers’ Association office. For the 2022 ATA program, we will continue to provide the financial support necessary to deliver all the Convention programs on the Sched virtual platform. In addition, we are very excited to be able to present Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe, Resiliency Expert/Scholar/Speaker to the delegates this year.
On each Convention website Morgex Insurance will be listed as a Sponsor of the event. Members will be asked to visit the page to access information regarding our products and services. They will be given the opportunity to enter a contest for a chance to win 1 of 2 Coast 2 Coast Vacation packages worth $15,000.
We are very excited to be a large part of this year’s Convention Program and although we cannot be there in person, we want to ensure that the members know that we are available to assist them with their Home & Auto Insurance needs. I would also like to thank all the Executive and members of each Convention Committee for their ongoing support of Morgex Insurance.
I wish you all the very best in the coming year.
Sincerely,
Randy Pearson
